Game of Thrones Wedding: Dragon Eggs & Fur Cloaks
It’s been a long journey getting here, but this is it: this Sunday is the series finale of Game of Thrones, a staple of our culture since it began in 2011. Now, without throwing any spoilers out there, let’s just say that the Game of Thrones-inspired wedding depicted in this styled shoot by Misty C Photography is unlikely to happen at this point on the show; but if you love Game of Thrones and want to incorporate that love into your wedding, these gorgeous photos can definitely give you some inspiration!
Misty C Photography was inspired by the end of Season 7 to create this shoot, with a perfect venue and lots of fabulous vendors in mind. Together, the dream team worked to create a gorgeous scene, framed with stone, accented with fiery flowers, and full of details that would make any Westerosi jealous.
First, the venue: the Maryhill Museum of Art in southern Washington is home to its own Stonehenge, and Misty C Photography knew this would be the perfect setting for this styled shoot. The shooting began with the gorgeous cake, made by Frost Me Sweet. The different tiers of the cake represented different elements of the show: the top layer was designed like a golden crown; the second layer was an intricate gold design that looked like marble; the third tier looked like pages of a book; and the bottom tier, of course, was like the scales of a dragon. Beside the cake, there were three incredibly intricate replica dragon eggs, provided by Willow Whisper Artistry.
The next detail was the set of beautiful invitations, designed by The Autumn Rabbit and printed by Beauty Bright Design, with wax seals by The Painted Papier and pictured rings from Trumpet and Horn. With a clever opening like “The Wedding is Coming”, a hand-drawn dragon, and, of course, a raven on the return envelope, how could you not fall in love with this stationery? These are also perfect details to incorporate into your own wedding if you don’t want to go full-blown GoT theme, but definitely want to include details.
Next was the table, set dead center in the stone archway, with a gorgeous black textured linen. This decor was handled by Tin Sparrow Events. On top were chargers and plates that appeared like stone, as well as soft white napkins tied in knots and stone-textured name cards, designed by Artful Virgo. The same artists also created the very cool menu in the back, which boasted items such as “Dornish olive bread” and “The Hound’s flame-grilled chicken”. Also on the table sat a gorgeous, fiery bouquet designed by My Garden Overfloweth, surrounded by candles and crystals. It truly looked like a union of ice and fire!
At last, there was the happy couple, played by models Zandra and Vince Gonzalez. Daenerys was dressed in a beautiful flowing skirt that was purchased from SkirtCreations and actually hand dip-dyed by the photographer, as well as a black lacy top from Amazon. Her hair was done by Julee Heslop and make-up by Amy Rene Artistry, with jewelry from 2 Cool Creations. Jon, meanwhile, wore a fur cloak finer than any he’s been seen in, provided by Willow Whisper Artistry.
So much thanks to Misty C Photography for letting me share this amazing Game of Thrones wedding styled shoot, and to all the vendors who made it so fabulous! Can’t wait to see the series finale this Sunday, and most likely talk about it for years to come – good or bad.
